How to request deletion of your Flock Safety licence plate data

Flock Safety operates automated licence-plate reader (ALPR) cameras for police departments and HOAs across the US. Your vehicle is photographed and logged whenever you pass one — with no opt-in.

There is no general opt-out for being photographed on a public road. What you can do:

1. Submit a data deletion or access request through Flock Safety’s privacy page to see and remove what is held about your plate.
2. Contact the agency or HOA that operates the cameras in your area — they control retention, and some jurisdictions let residents exclude their own plate.
3. As of August 2026 Flock’s default retention dropped to seven days, so much historical data now ages out automatically.
4. Raise it locally — camera contracts are approved by city councils and HOA boards in public meetings.
